DANIEL KÖTTER / HANNES SEIDL: FREIZEITSPEKTAKEL
with NEUE VOCALSOLISTEN
The five singers of the Neue Vocalsolisten form a type of “vocal chamber orchestra” which has performed with great virtuosity to great acclaim across the world. The singers are depicted during their everyday lives projected onto five screens – we therefore see these artists minus their individual aura created onstage through their specialised skills.
“We experience a virtuoso game of deception: we view the five members of the Neue Vocalsolisten on five small screens, first whilst singing, and then accompany them through their day-to-day routine: getting out of bed, in the bathroom, having breakfast, walking in the woods, driving in their cars; the real singers are positioned next to the screens and produce notes and sounds. The images and sounds intertwine on the highest levels and call each other into question,” reports Susanne Benda in the newspaper Stuttgarter Nachrichten.
This performance explores the borders between the stage and reality, robs the performers of their aura as characters onstage and then returns this aura in altered form.
