SERGEJ PROKOFIEV / SUZIE TEMPLETON: PETER & THE WOLF

Templeton has undertaken slight alterations to the classical tale - Prokofiev’s Narrator has been replaced by film images and the grand finale has an unexpected contemporary slant … Templeton discovers unexpected profundity in the apparently harmless children’s story which we all believe to know so well. An additional special feature: in the era of computer animation, this enchanting film was created frame by frame using real puppets in a genuine stage space filling an entire film studio. “Peter & the Wolf” is the result of five years’ work by a team of 200 individuals. Suzie Templeton’s masterpiece has been showered with prizes from all round the world and she even received a note from the son of Sergei Prokofiev: “Your Peter and the Wolf is the VERY BEST!”. The Hanoverian chamber orchestra “musica assoluta” performs under the direction of its conductor Thorsten Encke.
