HEINER GOEBBELS: WHEN THE MOUNTAIN CHANGED ITS CLOTHING
with VOCAL THEATRE CARMINA SLOVENICA
In 2012, Goebbels was appointed as artistic director of the Ruhrtriennale festival where the presentation of his work with the "Vocal Theatre Carmina Slovenica” last summer was greeted with frenetic applause: 40 girls and young women in a breathtaking choreography of movement and voices. This year, the KunstFestSpiele as co-producers of this project will be presenting this performance in Hanover. Goebbels’ work involving the now famous Slovenian singers aged between 10 and 20 focuses on the situation of upheaval in a double sense. Through seemingly harmless games, verses and songs, the singers create poetic and yet threatening images. Sovereignty and oppression and repression and upheaval alternate in rapid succession. Old concepts are no longer valid and new concepts not yet tangible. This not only applies to individuals involved in the special process of coming to maturity, but also refers to the rapid political and social changes in the homeland of these singers.
