When Vinko Globokar, one of the major composers to emerge during the last fifty years, received a commission from the vocal ensemble Mädchenchor Hannover, he searched for an appropriate model for this ensemble of young women. Little has changed in the essential subject matter which however appears here in a new disguise. Today, young women still get dressed up to attract the opposite sex, but no longer dream of finding a partner at the barn dance in the village and instead gather at stage entrances waiting to catch sight of their latest male pop idol. This is an evening combining Romantic and equally fine contemporary music devoted to the avenues and entanglements of the romantic utopia leading to personal happiness.
